We'd need to upgrade to Rails 2.3 and then use the new internationalization stuff. If you'd like to volunteer for doing a translation, I can take care of the upgrade and get everything set up for you. Let me know. |

Yes, that would be great. I will do the translation into German. Thanks! |

OK - I've got a to-do to upgrade to Rails 2.3. Then, we'd need to move all translatable strings into an en.yml file. Then, you could copy that and turn it into german. Would you be willing to help with the moving strings to en.yml part if I do the upgrade? |

Yes, of course I'm willing to help with the preparation of the translation. You can find my email address in my profile. |

OK - the upgrade is complete. My testing looks good, so I think we're ready to go. I've started the en.yml, but that would need to be completed before the German part. I did just enough to show how it should be done. If you'd be willing to move the strings into there, that would be great. If not, I can do it, or we could split the work. Let me know what you think. Thanks! We can talk about other additions to El Dorado (how to use Categories, etc) once the translation stuff is done. I think your ideas sounded good, though. I just like to take things one step at a time. |

Cool, thanks! I agree, let's do the translation stuff first. I'll have a look tonight and start moving the strings into en.yml. |

I've started working on this and will let you know when it's done. We also need to have a closer look at date and time formats (e.g. 12 hour am/pm format vs. 24 hour format). We probably even need to have different formats for en_US and en_GB etc, There is the I8n.localize method, but we need to check how it fits to what the program currently does in time_ago_or_time_stamp and time_stamp (in application_helper.rb). |

That's awesome. Thanks for working on this. I think there's some documentation around the internationalization for timestamps and stuff that you can get to from here: http://guides.rubyonrails.org/2_2_release_notes... |

To keep you posted: All strings are in en.yml. The only thing which is missing are the help pages. I think we need to copy and translate them as a whole. I'm now working on time_ago_or_time_stamp and time_stamp in application_helper.rb. Next step will be to create de.yml. As soon as this is done I'll commit my changes. |

That's great. You can go ahead and commit your stuff up bit by bit in your github repo. It would be nice to see how things are going as you're moving along. Thanks! |

I did a quick scan, and it all looks great so far. I'll do a more thorough review as soon as possible (by the end of the week for sure) and get back to you / merge in your work. Thanks so much for taking on this job! |

I found some small parts which, still need to be internationalized, but this will need to wait a few days because I'm very busy with something else atm. But I will definitely finish this. If you find something in the meantime which could be improved, just let me know and I'll add it to my list. |

That's fine. I'll just wait until you're done and then merge everything in. Can you post here or send me a github message when you're ready? |
